The following is a Trance by Betty Bethards that was recorded at Asilomar in June, 1999

As we approach the 21st century, you’re going to realize what an exciting time this is to have chosen to be on the earth plane. Each of you has a contribution to make, and if you can become centered, you will be able to do so.  Sensitive people have been having a difficult time staying away from chronic fatigue syndrome or any of the other names that have been given for just being too wide open and too sensitive.  This is going to appear more and more in your life, and unfortunately many people will learn to depend on medication to handle it rather than seeing what a wonderful opportunity it is for them to develop their gifts. It’s lifting the veils back so that you can see beyond the normal third dimension and increasing the five senses so that you’re able to tap into the sixth. This is done through meditating on a daily basis, keeping your equilibrium and yourself in perfect harmony with the vibrations of the earth.

It was discussed earlier about how people rally around someone who needs help. People’s hearts always go out to someone in need.

And this is what earthquakes and major storms are all about: people who can’t stand their neighbors and wouldn’t give them the time of day, if there’s a tornado that comes by, watch. They forget all about these petty things, and they look at what’s really important. Isn’t it tragic that we have to have an emergency situation for people to care about their fellow man?

By meditating, you’ll develop a clear perception of what the lessons on the earth plane are all about. Everyone is your teacher. They teach you to love yourself more. They teach you what works and what does not work in life, how to do things and how not to do things, just as you are learning here. You must learn to be patient, kind and loving with one another, and yet set healthy boundaries so that people are not forcing their will on you, or their abuse on you. This is what causes illness.  You not taking care of your own needs causes illness.

The stress tension of a hurried life also causes illness. It’s disharmony; it’s disease. By tuning in and becoming so familiar with your body that you will be able to recognize any missed heartbeat or any different sense of feeling about the body is what you need to do. Also, when it comes to going to a doctor to make a diagnosis, if you know your body and feel your body and can tell them what it feels like, where it hurts, and help to diagnose yourself. Very few doctors are that perceptive, so this can save your life.

The exciting thing about the new turn of the century is that all of these things are going to become normal. One day, you’ll be able to grow new limbs; one day you can stand in front of a light and have every molecule, every atom of your body healed – just by standing under this light. They’re learning more and more every day, and they’re coming up with machines that can measure things that never could be measured before. What an exciting time to be here because most of the things that will be developed are going to be used to aid mankind. And situations will come up that are going to force us to have to stop and care about one another.

Being stressed can cause illness - learn from Betty Bethards how to slow down your life
Not taking care of your own needs not only causes stress but that stress can cause illness

If you’re not meditating and if you’re a sensitive person, you’re going to find it very difficult. This is why it’s so important to spread the word to your friends, to your family, anyone who is reacting and is feeling wasted and drawn by this, there’s such a simple solution. It’s learning how to tune in when you choose to and tune out when you don’t want to. If you try to keep a light on 24 hours a day or run your car for 24 hours a day, the battery and the light won’t last very many days, and the car’s not going to last very long.

So you have to learn how to pace yourself at a healthy pace. You must allow a time to play (learn more about why playing as an adult is so important for health), a time to rest, a time to work, and a time to be creative, for all of you need the creativity in your life. The creative opens the right brain, the imagination and the intuitive; the creative feeds us.  It’s a centering process, it’s a form of meditation, but it feeds us.

The new century is a time of one miracle right after another, but you’ll realize they’re not miracles. They’re learning how to use energy and to create in ways you have never even thought of in the past. What an exciting time this is going to be! The fear that people have of the turn of the century is one that is out of proportion. People feed on fear.  People make money from fear.

Use your common sense such as having food and water on hand – and anything else you couldn’t do without – in case there’s an earthquake or you get sick and can’t go to the store. You want to have these common sense things available. Use this kind of thinking and don’t let fear enter your mind at all.

Big business is not going to keep computers down for long. They lose money every day they do. So people are going to be working full speed ahead. It’s not going to affect your life that much, unless you are in that industry. [Note, the Y2K computer scare did not manifest.]

The only computer system you should be dependent upon is the one that’s sitting in the third eye of your mind. The third eye is the one eye of God. It’s the clear seeing, clear perception. If you can live in that third eye 24 hours a day, it wouldn’t matter what was happening in the world because you would always find a way around, over, or through any situation. You have far more talents, my children, than you ever dreamed you have.  Use your inner mind.  Use that inner awareness, and look forward each day to what you will be learning when you wake up.

Never a day goes by that there isn’t a wealth of knowledge for you to take in. Sift out what doesn’t feel right, keep what does feel right, and make that your life. Live your truth. Live your beliefs. Know that we are always with you. We’re there to help you. All you have to do is ask. We cannot go in and help when you don’t ask. When you’re young, in the first 28 years we can, but from 28 on, it’s up to you to know yourself, to humble yourself, to ask for what you want. It will be given to you.

We appreciate all of you for opening your gifts, giving us the time to come through in your dreams, to help you to help yourself. We love you unconditionally. Please love yourself unconditionally. Then you can love others. You’re not here to shape up anyone else. They all have a team of teachers and an angel walking with them. If they want them shaped up they’ll yell at them, or they’ll set up the situation for them to change. So just knowing all you have to work on is you frees up a huge amount of time in your life.

Love yourselves, and God bless all of you.
