In order to both give and receive love fully, you have to feel worthy of love from within, both the male and female aspects of yourself.
In order to understand what sex is all about we have to know something about our own energy and how we are experiencing it. Most of us know what it feels like to be turned on sexually: there is a powerful current or sense of desire that can almost overwhelm us. It is something we can’t rationalize. To know it, we have to experience it. But when we are experiencing it, there is no mistake that it’s a real feeling. And that’s just in your second chakra! Imagine what you would feel if this energy intensity were moving throughout all of your chakra centers at the same time!

You as Male-Female

Each one of us is both male and female, knowledge and intuition, yin and yang. We choose to be one sex or the other this lifetime in order to help us balance the masculine and feminine, the strength and sensitivity within us, in order to move our souls forward. We are bisexual beings. Which cultures we are living in, what attributes are ascribed to in a particular sexual role also plays a large part in our choice. Masculine and feminine actually cannot be separated when viewed from a perspective of a total person; however, we have learned to associate the masculine with assertiveness and strength and the feminine traits with passiveness and sensitivity.

This concept of being both male and female goes back thousands of years, in mythology, astrology, alchemy, and many other esoteric disciplines. The goal of humankind’s evolution is to reunite the male and female, symbolized in an act of sexual intercourse. But the real synthesis occurs between the male and female aspects of the individual self. It is only when this perfect blending within occurs that one feels whole, at one with themselves, others and the universe.

Thus sex is much more than passion or the animal instinct to procreate. It is a drive within each of us, the attraction of the male and female aspects within the self, to reunite. The force that propels us to become whole from within is the most powerful expression of energy in the universe, and this is the energy of Love. We must learn to love ourselves, to unite this energy within, before we are truly free to love others.

When Betty was first lecturing, she promoted meditation and how to meditate, reincarnation and karma, the meaning of death, loving yourself and self-healing techniques. But then her Channel started having her channel content about Sex and Psychic Energy. Betty was NOT comfortable with the subject. She said, “I tried to explain to my Channel that I just wasn’t the person for the job when they told me that this lecture was going to be added to my repertoire.” I said, “I’ll go fight violence and ignorance and teach meditation, but leave me out of this sex business.”

To make a long story short, Betty lost that argument and embarked on a great period of learning guided by her teachers. They emphasized the important and urgency of telling people that the misuse of sexual energy is causing much destruction and violence in the world today. It is this second chakra/sexual energy that is preventing us from achieving a world of peace. Her teachers said that if we ever want to get it together in our country, to make a success of our marriages, to learn how to love one another, to get the economic and political systems on the right track, we’ve GOT to understand how to use and properly direct sexual energy.

When people are outraged by homosexuality, lesbians and the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning) movement, Betty would maintain that as long as there is a commitment in a love one-to-one relationship, the particular sexual genders are not that important. Commitment to our marriages and maintaining a sexually monogamous relationship will allow us to balance our energies and unfold our greatest potential as mankind.

When we really begin to experience ourselves and our partners using both higher and lower Chakra centers, we find fulfillment. Boredom leaves us forever, and life truly becomes a process of learning, growing and loving. Realizing our sexual potential means unfolding our psychic and love potential as well. We can direct this second chakra energy into higher centers of creativity and begin to realize ourselves as infinite beings.

Just as an FYI, the book, Sex and Psychic Energy by Betty Bethards, was found in Elvis Presley’s bathroom on the day of his death.
