Developing Spirituality and Creativity

Let your inner child out to play - learn how it helps your spirituality from Betty Bethards Inner Light Foundation
When you let your inner child out to play it opens you up for developing your spirituality and creativity

In the bible, Jesus says, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you change and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

Many of us were told to grow up and leave our child part behind. But the child in us is the aspect that is totally in touch with our imagination. The imagination is the bridge to God and developing our spiritual gifts. We need to acknowledge and honor our child part.

Many of us have totally abandoned our child part as adults. As we age, we often miss-define the meaning of play. People think that they are playing when they are in fact uptight, working and being competitive especially with after work and weekend activities.

How many of you run your life on a schedule? Ask yourself what do you do for fun? How do you spend your free time? How do you feel after you’ve been playing? Do you give yourself permission to play? How many times a week will you let your kid part “out?” Do you play sports or games just to win or do you really enjoy yourself?

You’ll know when you are truly playing because there will be no stress, tension or tightness in your body.  In addition, you won’t be trying to do things perfectly.

When you have time off, are you busy meeting obligations with family and friends or are you doing what you really want to do?

How about holidays? Are these a time of stress or a relaxed celebration for you?

The research is in. Play is important! Creative fun activities can be anything from a walk on the beach, reading an enjoyable book, going to a movie, dancing, writing a poem, gardening, or taking a class just for the fun of it.

There are consequences of not playing that affect the body. Continual stress and tension with no outlet for release sets us up for illness.

If you have a chronic problem with pain or disease, your body is yelling at you to let your kid out to play!
